Aseelah Emirati restaurant – Deira Creek, Baniyas, Dubai

Located in the traditional area of Dubai the Deria creek. The Rasission Blu has been standing there since 1975 in the midst of the traditional souqs of old Dubai. A perfect place for an Emirati restaurant.

Aseelah has opened recently. The interiors are a contrast of contemporary with traditional motifs. Reflecting the perfect image of Dubai; a modern city with traditions and heritage. The décor and ambiance just sets the perfect mood for a family meal.

We had gone there for dinner with family. We ordered with the recommendation of the server.

They first served a cheese and date fatayer to start the course of the meal.

Followed by Saj bread with tomato Chili and olives. Popular in the Levant region of the Middle East. It was prepared at the live cooking station in front of us.

For salad we had Beetroot carpaccio – with fresh wild rocket, lemon juice and olive oil, served with tahini flavoured laban. Very fresh and tasty.

My daughter and myself choose the Arabian Seafood Soup – a tomato based seafood broth flavoured with coriander and slow poached sustainable seafood wisely chosen from the Arabian Gulf. The taste did not suite my palate well. I am sure they can do better.

My wife and son had the Spiced Parsnip and Almond Soup – a creamy soup made of parsnip and almond served with crispy veal bacon and saffron oil. They liked the taste of it.

For mains we had the Grilled Gulf prawns – flavoured with turmeric and lemon. Made to perfection.

Chicken Kebab – Tender chicken marinated in yoghurt and served with garlic sauce

Aseelah Trio of Camel Sliders with three different toppings and sweet potato fries;

  • Date and lime jam with halloumi
  • BBQ sauce with onion jam
  • Cheese, onion and tomato

This is indeed a treat for exotic meat lovers.

Aseelah Signature Chicken Roulade – chicken leg stuffed with fresh dates and Bezar spices, served with freekeh risotto, smoked eggplant puree, roasted peppers and pan jus. The risotto was very tasty. But, the chicken was on the sweeter side.

Ended with the popular Emirati desert the Date Pudding – Warm date pudding served with poached dates, mango and passion ice cream. A perfect ending for a superb meal.

The staff is well trained in the details of the dishes. They were able to explain and recommend to us. They were very courteous and friendly.

I would highly recommend this for a Emirati Fine Dining experience.
